Overthinking & Procrastination

Your To-Do List Keeps Growing

And somehow you’re exhausted but haven’t done the thing.

You’ve rewritten the same email four times. Scrolled your phone for an hour instead of starting the project. Lain awake running through every possible outcome of a conversation that hasn’t happened yet.

It’s not laziness. It’s not a character flaw.

Your mind is doing too much. And when your mind does too much, your body freezes up. Nothing moves forward – which gives your brain even more to spin on.

That cycle makes total sense. And it can change.

Here’s What Most People Miss

Overthinking, procrastination, and feeling overwhelmed aren’t three separate problems.

They feed each other.

Overthinking is your brain trying to control outcomes by thinking harder. It believes that if you analyze enough, you’ll find the right answer and avoid messing up. But there’s always one more angle to consider. So the thinking never stops.

Procrastination isn’t about being lazy or not caring. It’s usually about avoiding discomfort. Starting something means risking failure, judgment, or imperfection. So your brain finds something easier to do instead.

Feeling overwhelmed happens when the gap between what you need to do and what feels possible widens. Everything feels urgent. Nothing feels manageable. So you shut down.

These patterns live in your body as much as your mind. That tightness in your chest when you open your inbox. The heaviness in your limbs when you think about starting.

That’s why just “thinking positive” or making another planner doesn’t work. You need tools that speak to both your brain and your body.

“Shaq is always a kind listener. He’s attentive and present. He makes me feel heard and understood. I feel that he is facilitating my growth and healing. He makes space for me to talk about what’s bothering me and upsetting me, without letting me spiral out of control, and gives me techniques and coping strategies I can use. Incredibly helpful.”

Break the Pattern from Multiple Angles

I use a mix of CBT, mindfulness, and body-based awareness to help you break these patterns.

We challenge the thinking patterns. Your brain has some well-worn grooves – things like “if it’s not perfect, it’s a failure.” We find those patterns, question them, and build new ones that actually serve you.

We bring your body into it. When you can catch the tension or shutdown early, you get a choice point. That’s where things shift.

We build real strategies. Not generic productivity hacks. Actual tools that fit your life, your brain, and how you work.

We figure out what’s underneath. Sometimes, overthinking covers deeper fears about worthiness, control, or past experiences. We’ll go there when you’re ready. No rush.

This isn’t about becoming someone who never worries. It’s about freeing up all that mental energy so you can actually live your life.

What to Expect

What does a first session look like?

The first session is about getting a clear picture of what’s going on and what you’re hoping to change. I’ll ask questions, you’ll share what feels relevant, and by the end you’ll already have some initial understanding of your patterns.

My goal is that you walk out of the first session with something useful – not just a feeling that someone listened.

Do you offer telehealth or in-person sessions?

Yes. I offer telehealth throughout California. If you’re located anywhere in the state, we can work together via secure video session. For clients in Redding, in-person sessions are also available.

How do I get started?

The easiest way is to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. We’ll talk briefly about what’s going on, I’ll answer any questions, and we’ll figure out if we’re a good fit. No pressure. No commitment. Just a conversation.
